Top 10 Star Trek: The Original Series Episodes

  1. "Assignment Earth". I especially liked Gary Seven and his cat (played by Terri Garr). It was rumored to have been spun off into it's own series but Robert Lansing (Seven) was considered a difficult personality (so I heard) and it wasn't picked up. Too bad, I always liked Garr.

  2. I would have thought that the number one episode would have been with the famous "kiss" that Shatner and Nichols did. That was unheard of in the 60's. And we take for granted now interracial marriages and relationships. See how Star Trek changed society?

  3. Among my favorites is "A Piece of the Action". An early Earth exploration vessel reports they contaminated the culture of a developing planet. When the sub-light message is finally received the Enterprise investigates to find a society entirely based on the organization of Prohibition era mobsters. It's quite funny to watch the crew first try to understand the society and then try to emulate its norms in order to get out of the mess that's been created.

  4. Mitchum blew Curt Jurgens out of the water.  Captain Kirk didn't get the chance to shake hands with the Romulan Captain even though the thought occurred to him.

  5. not rly real….kirk and co know and can speak over 1000 billions different language…shool time for that was 2 minutes..very real..very very real…but cause americans know all xd

  6. The Menagerie,;The Doomsday Machine; The Ultimate Computer; The Changeling; Space Seed; Who Mourns For Adonais; Mirror, Mirror; Arena; Balance Of Terror; Court Martial.

  7. One point about "Arena" that wasn't mentioned: Kirk wounds the Gorn captain, but refuses to kill him. This convinces the aliens that set up this death match that maybe humans aren't completely barbaric after all.

  8. The Doomsday machine is my favorite episode, the episode about tribblers to me is one of the worst episodes and I am surprised it made the list, but then again that episode also has Scotty getting into a fight which is hilarious

  9. "Corbomite Maneuver" didn't make the list. Sorry, David, but "City" needed the recognition for heartbreak and character over humor, we're both disappointed because there was more character development in "Corbomite Maneuver" than even the final version of "City" and we both know how long Harlan and Gene feuded over THAT bit of history, and wasn't it even Bobby Justman or Steve Carabatsos that did that final rewrite, wasn't even Gene's fault except for approving the last script? Hm, that was a long sentence.

Harlan will be remembered for Cordrazine.
You will be remembered for tribbles quadrotriticale. It's an interesting bit of speculation, which tale will ultimately stand the test of time?
"Who put the tribbles in the quadrotriticale?" CLASSIC TANG-TONGUELED LINE!!

  10. wait … 2:51 in and "The Doomsday Machine" is #8?? If I don't see "Corbomite Maneuver" near the top of this list, after "City On The Edge Of Forever", I start yelling "SHENANIGANS!" (yeah, David, get over it — NOT the best Trek ever written, but beloved)
