DIY Lawn Renovation Checklist

  1. Hi again, things looking a little better already, thanks for your help. One more question: What do you recommend for grub control & I'm seeding an fertilizing my lawn next week. How long do i have to wait until i lime the lawn or should I skip this for this year?

  2. Let me get this right kill it all off after I cut it short give it two week then start seeding watering daily and fertilizer it ? What about milogrante I'm so nervous to kill my grass off hahah my neighbors will be like what the hell is wrong with this guy I spent enough time in the lawn try to make it look good but I just moved in the house in February and it was one big weed and it's time to redo her

  3. Is your renovation proceedure the same for St. Ausgustine lawns? Plan initial plan was to kill it off, remove, add topsoil and reseed. I am in Zone9 (So CA). Any advise would be muchly appreciated.

  4. Great Info! I too struggle with overseeding vs renovation. I have a "mixture mess" as I like to call it in my front and side yards that I would really like to fix with one type of grass. But like you mentioned, cost and other factors such as having the proper watering system comes into play. So I haven't decided what to do yet.

Also there is one pre-emergent that I know of that you can use while seeding. It's called Tenacity. I haven't tried it but believe the lawn care nut has talked about it. More info here: http://www.greencastonline.com/product/tenacity-herbicide/overview/turf
